The Previnex Promise: Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Testing

When it comes to supplements, it’s important to know not just what’s in them, but where those ingredients come from, how they’re processed, how they’re tested, and how they’re produced. At Previnex, we pride ourselves on only putting the highest quality, safest, and most clinically effective ingredients into our supplements. But that’s a lot of scientific mumbo jumbo…what does all of that actually mean? Well, that’s what we’re digging into here. We want you to choose a supplement company you can truly trust, so we’re going to walk you through our sourcing, manufacturing, testing, and production guidelines and processes.

Where Do We Source Our Ingredients?

This is what we call our secret sauce, and what makes our supplements so effective (and different) from others on the market. Not only do we source the highest quality ingredients on the market, but on top of that, in every case we can, we’re  using ingredients that have undergone human clinical studies to prove their effectiveness.

One example of how we source our ingredients is in our Omega Pure PLUS supplement (fish oil). For these,we only source wild species of anchovies, mackerels, and sardines from the most omega-dense regions in the world, and we actually have fishing zone maps that show where we source. This helps us remain above board and ensures that we’re partnering with only top, ethical harvesters of these fish species.

Another example is Joint Health PLUS®, which consists of two main active ingredients, NEM® and Boswellin®, that have both been run through human clinical studies. NEM® is clinically proven to be up to 5x more effective and beneficial than glucosamine and chondroitin alone or in combination, giving your joints the best protection available. Boswellin® is a clinically proven natural anti-inflammatory and pain reliever, giving your joints the relief they need in a more natural form.

Another important part about how we source our ingredients is that we avoid sourcing from China. This is due to the high levels of pollution and soil contamination in the country. While deriving some heavy metals from soil is inevitable because nutrients come from the soil, the increased contamination and lack of quality assurance protocols in China makes it less safe to source from. We want to ensure we’re getting only the highest quality ingredients, and that means sourcing all the way down to the soil.

For our Nourify® meal replacement shakes—which use pea protein—we source the protein from a farm in Canada that follows organic farming practices. For the grape seed extract in our Multivitamin, this comes from regions of Austria and Switzerland that have the highest quality grape seed extract on the planet. You get the idea…

What is the Difference Between Food-Grade Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical-Grade Manufacturing?

We know seeing the word “pharmaceutical” as it relates to supplements can potentially be confusing and even intimidating. However, food-grade manufacturing is not as scrutinous as pharmaceutical-grade, and we want our supplements under the same scrutiny as the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, which is a much more precise standard that also has safety protocols built into for ingredient testing, production run testing, and finished product testing. All to ensure we’re giving you the safest, highest quality product on the market.

Step 1: Raw Material Testing

Every ingredient that comes through our door is tested for contaminants, metals, microbials, etc. And we even have agreements with our raw material suppliers that if an ingredient fails raw material testing, they are responsible to get the ingredient, send us a new product to test, and fix the issue. In our (almost) 11-year history, we have only had one experience—during COVID—where an ingredient failed microbial testing. It failed on account of mold, which triggered an ingredient return and new product being sent out to us, and the new product passed testing with flying colors. Without these testing and safety protocols in place, a moldy ingredient would have been baked into the product (gross).

Step 2: Product Run Testing

During the manufacturing runs of each and every product, we pull product aside to perform US Pharmacopeia testing for product stability, hardness, thickness, dissolution, disintegration, etc. If a nutritional supplement doesn’t dissolve in your body within 45 minutes, it will pass the small intestine where nutrient absorption happens and be worthless to you. On average, our tablets, capsules, and softgels dissolve within 20 minutes (and we have the data to back it up!). What this means is that with Previnex, you know you’re getting products that are breaking down (well) in time to deliver benefits.

Step 3: Finished Product Testing

Once raw ingredient and production run tests are complete, we take the final steps of testing the finished products. Here, we generate Certificates of Analysis for each product during every production run. This finished product testing ensures that every single thing you read on the label is exactly what’s in the product—if it’s not on the label, it’s not in the supplement. And to give you a look under the hood, here’s our Certificate of Analysis on Omega Pure PLUS, our fish oil supplement. Note the precision of the milligrams of EPA and DHA, but also note the heavy metal testing, which is also part of our finished product testing.

What Does "Clinically Tested" Mean?

For us, “clinically tested” means that we look for ingredients that, in every case possible, have gone through human clinical trials, where we can leverage impressive health claims as a result (and so we can make the best products possible). For example, with our Probiotic, you’ll see a registered trademark next to every strain of health bacteria. In addition, you’ll see the same thing with the prebiotic we use, NutraFlora®, which is clinically proven to help with the growth and colonization of the healthy bacteria in the gut (and it’s the best prebiotic we could find on the market based on all of the data we looked at). Unfortunately, this is not very common in the supplement industry, but we do it because we care about one thing: producing the highest quality, safest, and most clinically effective product to benefit your health.

In addition to ensuring that our products will provide the desired health benefit, we’re also able to take the guesswork out of supplementing, which is a big deal given how predatory and exploitative products in our industry can be.

The Previnex Promise

We know this is a lot of information to take in. But what it really breaks down to is this: we promise to never give you anything but the best we can find. We will always source the highest quality ingredients, test every one of those ingredients, and test every single product before it hits our site. What you see on the label of your product is exactly what you’re getting—we don’t hide ingredients or chemicals, or sneak in anything…sneaky (which is another issue that we’ll unpack in another blog post).

We don’t skirt our responsibilities as a supplement company because we care so deeply about your health. We want you to flourish and live the longest, healthiest, most active life possible. And done right, supplements can actually create health and do this. we want you to thrive. Everything we do is driven by science and held to the highest level of scrutiny in the industry. If you’re ready to take the next step on your health journey, you can find our products here. If you have questions about everything we covered here (or in general), you can reach out to us here. We’d love to hear from you!
