September 2018: Dieuthro is only eight months old, but already so weak. His hair is brittle and turning red, a clear sign of malnutrition. When a community health worker saw him last, she reported, "He didn't even have the energy to cry." During another recent visit, a community health worker took his mid-upper arm circumference. Dieuthro is in the red zone, which is another clear sign of being malnourished.
"I am so worried about Dieuthro," said his father, Diemetre. "He is so weak."
Dieuthro lives with his parents and older brother in a very remote community in Haiti. His mother has a cognitive disability and his father, Diemetre, is too sick to work. Diemetre does his best to provide for his family but is struggling to get even one meal on the table every day.
November 2019: Everyone who has met Dieuthro, heard his story, or seen his pictures in September of 2018 has been rooting for him since he came into our charitable partner, CMMB's Angel Investor community last year. Dieuthro has been receiving food, clean water, and Super Vites as part of the Previnex Get Health, Give Health® Program. Everyone has been encouraged and is thrilled to see him growing and starting to really thrive, and he is no longer showing signs of severe acute malnutrition!
Dieuthro is now 13.8 kg which is well within the range of normal for a two-year-old child. He receives food and clean water support through CMMB, but the vitamins he is receiving are really making the difference. Dieuthro was improving with nutritional support but continued to struggle absorbing all the nutrients from his food—and the multivitamins he receives have helped solve this issue.
Dieuthro has been taking vitamins since early August. His father is so grateful for the love and support his son has received from the CMMB team and their Angel Investor Program, and of course, Previnex!
